A star spangled post....

Acutally this is not a star spangled post at all. I've been a bad bad blogger. I havent posted in a week. I have no pictures for you. I....I....I....

I am on a holiday weekend and thoroughly enjoying my summer. That's the honest truth of it and I hope you are too! Snapping up the lap top after this and off to get me some cobbler!

Have a fantastic 4th of July---and go find yourself some fireworks!

Vacation's All I Ever Wanted...

Vacation had to get away....

Ahh remember that GoGo's song? Comes to mind every time I say the word...

Summer is my favorite time of year because even when you are NOT on vacation you can do vacation like things...
Take walks late at night among fireflies...
Eat dinner out on the patio...
Pack a picnic just because....

I just love a vacation state of mind....What vacation like things are you doing these days, and are you at home or far away????

Weekending with friends...

Tomorrow night we are spending time with friends over dinner at a restaurant I am so proud to have in my area. If you have never been to or heard of the Styer's Garden Cafe at Terrain let me take you on a visual tour.

I wish I could say I lally gag about every weekend having fabulous dinner with multiple friends but this dinner is a special treat. My husband put it together for my 30th birthday! As an event planner, it's nice to have someone plan something for me for once.

What do you have planned this weekend? I hope you find something special in whatever you do!

Lazy Days and Beach Blankets

Good title for a blog post and a book!

I saw this book the other day and immediately ate it up right in the store!

The title, 'Lazy Days and Beach Blankets- Simple alfresco dining with family and friends' sounds like the perfect recipe for summer meal time success. I love a good picnic! How about you???
Lazy Days and Beach Blankets: Simple Alfresco Dining With Family and Friends
Below is some picnic eye candy to inspire you to have your own deliciously styled picnic----just remember one important thing: Over styling can kinda kill that spontaneous picnic mood. Just grab some good and a blanket and your open beach spot or lawn---nature will style you pretty just fine.

Mermaids Tiers

Flipping through a Garnet Hill catalogue the other day and spied some lovely tiered necklaces so pretty, I almost cried.

I love the natural textures....

Chan Luu Three-Strand Stone Necklace
Ocean inspired colors.....

Chan Luu Triple-Tier Beaded Necklace
and fantastic flair for the simplest outfit.

The first necklace is my favorite. How about you?

Embrace your mermaid and pair with a long fluid skirt, simple tank,
and maybe even let your hair air dry. Yes, let your hair air dry.

World Ocean's Day

Not sure where I found this Sea Urchin photo. Aren't they beautiful?

Today is World Ocean's Day! I always feel at peace by the ocean so taking care of it has always been important to me. Most of the ways we can take care of it are ways we can take care of the rest of the earth in general. It's not that hard to slowly change your life style to positively affect our earth and those who live in it.

Taking care of the ocean is showing respect for the people you love and the global community for generations to come. It's not just about being green for the sake of being green, it's being mindful of the planet that God given to us. Plus those ocean inspired homes we like to post about on our blogs wouldn't really be the same if our oceans get gungked up. Dirty water and dead sea creatures aren't very inspiring are they?

Take the Seven C's Pledge for Ocean Conservation as listed on the official website:

  • Commit to making a real difference
Aim to be carbon neutral by reducing and offsetting your energy consumption.
  • Conserve in your home
Upgrade to Energy Star appliances and compact fluorescent light bulbs.
  • Consume consciously
Rethink what you need, purchase “green” products, buy locally grown foods, and choose
    sustainable seafood.
  • Communicate your interests and concerns
Let your friends, family, colleagues, and the local media know about the impact of climate change on the ocean.
  • Challenge yourself daily
Walk, bike, carpool, and take public transportation to cut down your carbon emissions.
  • Connect in your communityGet active as a volunteer with a local watershed or ocean group.
